Solitude River Trips is announcing fully guided fly fishing trips in September 2013 and 2014. During the month of September, the resident Middle Fork Cutthroat begin “fattening up” to prepare for the harsh winter ahead and the river traffic slows down considerably, making Fall an ideal time for a Middle Fork fishing expedition.
While progress has not been kind to the Cutthroat, the Middle Fork remains one of their great strongholds and is a great place for avid anglers to seek out this beautiful fish. Since 1973 a catch-and-release, single barbless hook only policy has allowed the cutthroat trout to thrive. Middle Fork Cutthroat average 10 to 14 inches in length, with some up to 20 inches. Framed by Idaho’s spectacular Sawtooth and Salmon River Mountains in the heart of the Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness, the Middle Fork provides a stunningly beautiful backdrop for pursuing this most becoming salmon.
With the cooler nights of September, the quaking aspens that frame the river put on a brilliant show with their display of fall colors, which sets the tone of this special seasonal adventure. Anglers begin their relaxing float downstream in easily maneuverable custom fishing rafts on a journey that spans roughly 65 miles, offering plenty of time to focus on productive fishing spots. These custom-made fishing rafts have a sturdy platform floor in the stern and transom, with a casting brace and a comfortable seat back.
The combination of breathtaking wilderness, temperate days and crisp nights, and tranquil fly fishing make this an unforgettable experience.
