Girls just want to have fun, and Duvine Cycling & Adventure are out to prove it on their women-only bike tour in Tuscany.
Ride through Tuscany’s gentle green hills and cypress-lined byways with Mom. Discover medieval fortresses and ancient Etruscan villages with your sister. Delight in a cooking class in Lina’s fourteenth-century home and an exclusive wine tasting with local winemaker Donatella. Travelers will never forget a ride along the ridges of the Crete Senesi in a peloton of strong female riders or the sight of Siena’s Piazza del Campo at night with your daughter beside you. Savor local treats like homemade pici pasta and pecorino cheese and sample the finest Super Tuscan and Chianti Classico wines with your college girlfriends. Every mile completed for a good cause, as DuVine will donate 5% of each booking to the Breast Cancer Fund.
The six day tour begins meeting the all-female guide team at the Chiusi train station for a transfer to La Chiusa in the sleepy village of Montefollonico, a home away from home for the next two nights. The welcome always begins with a light lunch and glass of Prosecco before getting fitted on the bikes and head out into Tuscan countryside with our peloton of women riders.
On day two travelers will embark on a loop ride to the town of Pienza and pedal along the cypress-lined curves into Montichiello and the Val d’Orcia. Day three allows cyclists to take in panoramic views of the Crete Senesi, pedaling down the Asso Valley. On day four, travelers can either wake up early to catch the monks greeting the new day with a Gregorian chant at the nearby Abbey of Sant’Antimo or sleep in at the enchanting castle hotel. Afterwards, pedal through the olive and cypress trees andride deep into the hills of Chianti. This area was at the center of Florence and Siena’s 300-year struggle for regional dominance, but today, these fortresses protect signature Chianti Classico wines as they age in coveted antique cellars.
Finally, on the last day travelers can opt to sleep in, enjoy the hotel, and take a late-morning shuttle to Florence; or make an epic final ride across Chianti for a triumphant finish at Florence’s Piazzale Michelangelo. S
Price from $4,895 the tour runs from September 27 to October 2, 2015.
