Visitors to Australia’s Northern Territory get the opportunity to experience an authentic Australian adventure, Aboriginal culture and stunning natural sights.

2020 in the NT brings limited-time large scale art exhibitions and quirky events.

Why 2020:

A new, limited-time art exhibition by artist Bruce Munro is coming to Darwin in 2020 – Bruce Munro: Tropical Light, will open on November 1, 2019 and run through to April 30, 2020. Its intended to portray Darwin’s nature, culture and history, and encourage visitors to wander throughout the central business district from sculpture to sculpture.

Along the path between sculptures, local artists will have the opportunity to showcase their work, creating one of the longest “art trails” in the Northern Territory, stretching over a mile and a half

Other unique and quirky events in 2020 include the Henley-On-Todd Regatta in August, which is the world’s only dry bed regatta, as well as the Alice Springs Camel Cup and Beer Can Regatta in July

When to Go:

With both desert and tropical climates, the NT is a great place to visit all year round depending on visitor’s preferences. In 2020, travelers should aim to visit before May, when they can view both the Field of Light Uluru and Bruce Munro: Tropical Light before it goes away.

How to Go:

The Northern Territory is home to three airports that make for easy travel for international visitors. With a one stop-over within Australia or Asia, travelers going to the Top End can fly into Darwin International Airport and those looking to explore the Red Centre can fly into Ayers Rock Airport or Alice Springs Airport.
