New Yorkers who want to get a little online shopping done while riding the subway can thank Visit Phoenix for making their lives a little easier.
Visit Phoenix is sponsoring free WiFi in the New York City subway system during the month of December, giving subterranean commuters in the Big Apple easy access to the Internet.
According to New York’s Metropolitan Transit Authority, more than 137 million passengers ride the subway each month. This month, every passenger who directs his or her smart phone (or tablet or laptop) to a web browser will be informed that free Wi-Fi comes courtesy of Visit Phoenix. Upon connecting, users will view a 15-second video featuring Phoenix’s sun-dappled resort pools and outdoor landscapes.
“This is a great opportunity to get our brand in front of millions of eyes and remind consumers in a chilly, populous market that Phoenix is a warm, welcoming place for a winter vacation,” said Melissa Gogel, vice president of marketing, tourism and communications for Visit Phoenix.
“At the same time, in the spirit of the season, we’re giving busy New Yorkers the gift of free Wi-Fi.”
Visit Phoenix’s out-of-the-box and into-the-tunnel marketing campaign continues through December 31.
