Universal Travel System will spin-off its operations to offer upscale tours to the Mediterranean basin in response to the increasing volume of traffic to that part of the world. UTS Travel will continue its operations under the leadership of Mr. Klaus Billep, President and CEO of UTS.

Dubbed Mediterra, the new company will be completely independent, with an exclusive focus on travel to countries in the Mediterranean basin. Tour programs and operations will transition from UTS to the new offshoot company. Steve Alexis, formerly Vice President of New Product Development for UTS, has been appointed to lead Mediterra as CEO, in charge of entire operations.

An array of new products are soon to be released for 2013 that will include super deluxe tours and FIT’s, economical coach tours with guaranteed departures, shore excursions, group arrangements and special interest tours. To kick off the new venture, Mediterra is offering retail travel agents up to 15% commission on most of tours, as well as 2-for-1 deals on all of its small ship cruises in the Adriatic.
