Africa is a destination that evokes adventure, amazement and accomplishment of a dream. People spend a lifetime saving up for their trip to Africa, and for most the country exceeds all of their expectations.
The International Association for Travel to Africa (IAFTTA) has issued a challenge to the tourism industry.
Kathy Moroney, founder and CEO of the IAFTTA, is spearheading the effort by asking that the tourism industry step forward to assist with the humanitarian crises in Africa.
All donations to the World Food Programme will be matched by a generous donor through June 15.
“That gives us 10 days”, said Moroney. “Through social media, and with our worldwide reach, our industry can make a huge impact toward keeping people alive. Many of us not only make our living by providing amazing trips to Africa for clients; we also have a profound love for and admiration of the African people.”
Moroney is hoping that not only will those involved with Africa tourism respond to the challenge, but through social networking the travel industry as a whole will get involved.
The site for the World Food Programme is www.wfp.org/donate/sahel-HP
Moroney is asking everyone who donates to record that donation at www.Experts4Africa.com/wfp This will allow for a reporting of factual information on the success of the challenge.
