The Landings Resort and Spa recently launched of its Oncology Aesthetics Program, becoming the first spa in the Caribbean and the fourth in the Americas to partner with Ricardo Fisas Natura Bissé Foundation and offer specialized aesthetic skincare treatments for individuals undergoing oncology therapy. This advancement has been made possible through the non-profit’s dedication to expert-led education programs for spa professionals navigating the complexities of cancer through specialized oncology skin and hair care solutions. Following a thorough in-person training, beginning this month, the?7,000-square-foot?spa will offer tailored spa treatments for visitors currently being treated for cancer as well as those in remission or post-treatment.

Ricardo Fisas, visionary entrepreneur and founder of Natura Bissé, established the luxury skincare brand in 1979, transforming it into a global leader in results-driven cosmetics. After passing the company to the next generation in 2008, Ricardo and his wife, Gloria Vergés, shifted their focus to philanthropy by launching the Ricardo Fisas Natura Bissé Foundation. The Foundation is committed to enhancing the lives of cancer survivors and empowering spa professionals through specialized oncology skincare initiatives. By fostering confidence, resilience, and holistic wellness, the Foundation continues Ricardo’s legacy of compassion, driving positive change through the transformative power of touch.

The Landings Resort and Spa’s new program aims to redefine the limited number of spas offering tailored services to the millions of people battling cancer each year. Addressing this demand, all services are performed by the resort’s team of therapists who possess the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively modify the safest and most nurturing treatments for guests at any stage of their cancer journey.

“Our mission is to create a sanctuary where individuals affected by cancer receive personalized care that nurtures both their physical and emotional well-being,” said Marjorie Knowles, Spa Director at The Landings Resort and Spa. “We are incredibly proud that our team of therapists is uniquely qualified to deliver treatments that not only rejuvenate the skin but also uplift the spirit. This ongoing commitment, in partnership with the Ricardo Fisas Natura Bissé Foundation, ensures our therapists remain at the forefront of oncology aesthetics through continuous training and education.”

Upon arrival, a compassionate and extensive intake process will create an environment where guests feel understood. The trained staff dedicate this time to reviewing all aspects of the guest’s cancer story to customize a treatment that will most effectively address all oncology-related side effects and symptoms. With expertise in both psycho-oncology and its physical affects, the provider’s modifications to accommodate medical considerations may include adjusting service dates in alignment with chemotherapy or radiation cycles, massage pressure, areas of focus across the body, and recommended products.

The spa’s treatments offered for this program include Pre or Post Radiation Comfort skin treatment, Soothing Scalp experience, Restore and Replenish Body Hydration and more. Used effectively across hospitals in Spain for over a decade, all treatments utilize products from Barcelona-based luxury skincare brand Natura Bissé. With new research leading doctors to encourage the benefits of spa services from the emotional rejuvenation of a massage to facials that rebuild the skin barrier broken down during radiation, the program applies evidence-based practices that support both physical healing and mental well-being.

“Touch is powerful,” noted Josanna Gaither, Executive Director at Ricardo Fisas Natura Bissé Foundation. “For many cancer patients, a spa treatment can be the first positive touch they’ve experienced since their diagnosis. Being able to accompany someone on their journey and facilitate these meaningful connections is a gift. We are delighted to partner with the team at The Landings Resort and Spa. They understand the need and are very intentional and devoted to helping all guests feel supported, regardless of where they are in their journey.”

Designed to be a serene and comforting oasis, the spa features eight therapy rooms, two facial rooms, two massage rooms, a wet therapy room with a state-of-the-art twelve jet stand-up shower and three VIP rooms with private terraces featuring a hydrotherapy tub and shower. All treatments are paired with calming teas offering all-natural health benefits from combating night sweats to inflammation.
