Fond Doux Holiday Plantation – a 19th century eco-friendly colonial plantation featuring an assortment of 12 uniquely crafted cottages, two onsite restaurants and a collage of outdoor swimming pools – is now offering a sweet traditional chocolate immersion package.

The package includes 4-night accommodations in a 1 bedroom cottage, a welcome “choctail”, gift bag, a free historical tour of the cocoa bean, a Cocoarina dance instruction taught by the resort’s experienced guide, a gift book of “Chocolate History” and a daily breakfast which, of course, includes their famous chocolate pancake. A couples chocolate swoon massage is also available.

Guests can bring the radiance back to their skin with a blissfully delicious aroma of pure and natural chocolate as ground cocoa beans polish the skin to a delightful glow with a special “Chocolate Bean Polish” spa treatment. A “Chocolate Fond Doux Wrap”, also available, can be applied to the body while receiving a deeply relaxing head or foot massage. After a soothing hot rain shower to remove your wrap, the journey will be complete with a skin moisturizing and hydration treatment with an organic moisturizer.

Experienced guides will provide the brief history of the cocoa plantation, how it evolved and where it is today. Guests are then led to the Cocoa Fermentation House to see the beginning of the chocolate making process.

After the fermentation process, the beans are placed on large drying trays in the sun .

Thereafter, they are placed in a large pot called the “Chaudière” and an estate worker dances on the beans – the dance is called the cocoarina dance, in case you were wondering. Guests are free to partake in the dance before the beans are then roasted, pounded and then rolled on a flat surface to get the finished product which is the Cocoa Stick.
