Nhow
This nhow hotel reinterprets Peruvian traditions, myths and rituals with an unexpected contemporary twist by merging them with the new XXI century pop culture idols. Peru as you know it has been revisited in a design hotel flooded with colors and patterns. PUQIO
Coming soon. A hamlet set on the unspoiled Colca Valley rooted in nourishment and discovery -a tented exploration of Andean life. Discover the Colca Valley, beyond the Canyon. Access untrodden pathways, and soaring condors, and get back to nature with the gentle guidance of hand-selected artisans, naturalists and local experts.

Experiences include high-altitude trekking, delving into ancient plant wisdom with a natural herbalist, soaking in the thermal baths of Uyo Uyo, visiting some of the best textile weavers in the Andes, and more. (Arequipa)

NOMAD Urban AQP
NOMAD Hotels Group, the first Peruvian “home-boutique” hotel network, announced the opening of its first hotel in Arequipa under the name of NOMAD Urban AQP. Located in the heart of the “White City”, it plans to become a “Social Hub” for digital nomads, whether they are millennials or executive Zetas. In the hotel, you will find workspaces such as the qASA Care coworking, spaces for events and other leisure spaces such as the “Music Corner”, the INDIGO restaurant which offers an exclusive gastronomic approach and its AMBAR bar and rooftop. El huarique de los Cuchitos
Opened at the beginning of this year. In Peru, huarique means a popular restaurant, of known quality by those who go to the place frequently, which does not usually appear in tourist guides. This is a new proposal from Don Cucho La Rosa, a famous chef in Peru, and his son Bernardo. The place specializes in seafood dishes and emblematic dishes from all over Peru. It is located in the neighborhood of Chorrillos. (Lima)

Otto is the emblematic restaurant located on the rooftop of Casa Wynwood Barranco. Led under the guidance of renowned chef Marco Salinas, Otto is the perfect place to have brunch, lunch, dinner or go for a drink with friends, in the heart of Barranco. It opened this year. (Lima)

ROCCO
Recently opened. It is a trattoria by the renowned chef Rafael Osterling, which showcases his unique vision of Italian cuisine. (Lima)

Mauka
Mauka Is directed by Pía León (owner of Kjolle, recently named one of the 50 Best restaurants). It is a celebration of hyper-local diversity. The restaurant relies on native crops, grains, and seeds, combining them with cutting-edge techniques. It offers a culinary experience where the preservation of heritage is brought to haute cuisine. Chef Schiaffino will join Aqua Expeditions’ Aqua Nera
The farm-to-table movement has gained momentum worldwide with growing awareness of sustainability and mindful eating. Chef Pedro Miguel Schiaffino, known as “The Jungle Chef,” is making waves in Peru by incorporating “rainforest-to-table” concepts.

Through his innovative approach, he creates authentic Peruvian cuisine while helping local communities reconnect with their natural resources. Chef Schiaffino will join Aqua Expeditions’ Aqua Nera ship for a chef-hosted departure from October 10 to 14, offering cooking demonstrations and guided tours of local villages, markets and wildlife sanctuaries. Trail Trek Tour in Sacred Valley
Intrepid debuts new section of quarry trail trek tour in Sacred Valley. Along with the Lares and Salkantay treks, the 26-kilometer Quarry Trail has emerged as an alternative to the Inca Trail for hikers looking to explore the Sacred Valley around Machu Picchu. Tour operator Intrepid Travel has been offering Quarry Trail itineraries for several years, but starting in 2024, they will include a new section of the trail previously unseen by travelers. Intrepid has worked with local communities in the area to develop this new section, and for every guest booked on a Quarry Trail trek, the company will donate to local organizations to ensure the ongoing protection and conservation of the historic area. Quieter than the Inca Trail and not requiring permits, highlights of the Quarry Trail include the Perolniyoc Cascade waterfall, the 4,450 meter-high Kuychicassa Pass, and a sun gate overlooking Ollantaytambo. Exhibition “Color: The Knowledge of the Invisible”
The Telefónica Movistar Foundation and the Museum of Contemporary Art of Lima (MAC) present “Color: The Knowledge of the Invisible,” an exhibition that explores color as a physical, technological, cultural, and psychosocial phenomenon in constant change and evolution. In this exhibition, we will be able to appreciate audiovisual pieces, historical photographs, postcards, paintings, books, vinyl records, screen prints, posters, advertisements, documents, lithographic pieces, illustrations, installations, and more from renowned Peruvian and international artists. The exhibition will run from July 13, 2023, to March 3, 2024. (Lima)

Whale watching season in northern Peru
With the recent news of the new species of ancient whale found in Peru earlier this month, whale watching is a hot topic and a must-do in Peru! The coastal waters of northern Peru are home to 32 known species of whales and dolphins, and during whale watching season you can often spot humpback whales weighing in at as much as 36 tons. The best whale watching is in Mancora, Peru from July – October when the humpback whales make the thousands of miles journey from Antartica to give birth to their young. You can spot these majestic giants form shore, but to get up close and personal, add a whale watching activity on the beaches of the Piura and Tumbes regions: El Ñuro, Máncora, Cabo Blanco, Los Órganos, and Punta Sa. TRANSPORTATION
Construction of the Chinchero Airport (ready in 2025): When the airport is operational, it will have the capacity to handle 11 flights simultaneously and 24 operations per hour. It is estimated that there will be 4,200 operations per year, including landings and take-offs, and 6.7 million passengers transported. (Cusco)

Expansion of the Jorge Chávez International Airport (to be completed by 2025): This expansion at Lima’s airport envisions creating the first Airport City in South America. This project covers an area of more than 2,200 acres and will feature two future landing strips, a passenger terminal, and multiple commercial zones. The new Jorge Chávez International Airport will transform Lima into a significant regional hub, enabling growth in alignment with passenger traffic demands. (Lima)

AWARDS
Peru was once again recognized at the prestigious World Travel Awards 2023 for excellence in the world of travel and tourism. Peru was named “South America’s Leading Culinary Destination”, “South America’s Leading Cultural Destination” and “South America’s Leading Destination”. Machu Picchu was also named “South America’s Leading Tourist Attraction”. The award ceremony was held August 26 in Saint Lucia. According to Angélica Matsuda, Executive President of PROMPERÚ, these awards work out well for the promotion of Peruvian tourism and cultural wealth internationally. Also, they contribute to the economic reactivation of the sector.
