Located in iconic Key West, Florida, Parrot Key Hotel & Villas, owned by Hersha Hospitality Trust, is now open following the completion of an extensive $25 million-dollar renovation designed to bring luxury tropical accommodations and thoughtful services and amenities to the island. Offering 148-rooms, including a selection of waterfront villas offering a premium experience, four glimmering pools, a beachfront location and on-site restaurant The Grove Kitchen & Bar, inspired by the flavors of the tropics, Parrot Key Hotel & Villas is the new go-to, 4-star destination resort with rates starting at $299.
Located only minutes from Historic Old Town and Duval Street, Parrot Key Hotel & Villas is set among five acres of award-winning landscaping and palm groves. The resort’s villas are among the largest on the island and each offer outdoor space, perfect for relaxing, and are divided into three room types, a standard guestroom, a one-bedroom suite and a two-bedroom suite, accommodating up to 10. Guests can reserve the configuration that best fits their needs, from individual travelers and couples to families and large parties, like friend getaways and wedding celebrations. Designed by New-York based interior design firm Bill Rooney Studio, who specializes in luxury hospitality design and also designed Hersha Hotels and Resorts’ newly opened Miami Beach property Cadillac Hotel & Beach Club, rooms and spaces take inspiration from the hotel’s waterfront location, fusing hues of blue and cream with reclaimed ocean-worn wood, smooth beige walnut and driftwood from nearby Smathers Beach to create a relaxing and tranquil vibe.
“Parrot Key Hotel & Villas redefines the Key West vacation experience and is rooted in the new redesign of our signature accommodations and tropical grounds, as well as our approach to unparalleled and anticipatory service,” commented Steve Mungall, general manager of Parrot Key Hotel & Villas. “Our four pools, culinary offerings, on-site water sport activities and a number of new services and amenities, including the signature Waterfront Experience, allow guests to embrace island life, whether visiting us for a milestone celebration, family vacation or simply a getaway to paradise.”
Guest villas are 1,525 square feet and can be reserved as a complete three-bedroom unit. Standard guestrooms are 375 square feet, and one- and two-bedroom suites have 675 and 925 square feet of tropical elegance respectively, as well as space for gathering with a dedicated living room and wet bar. Rooms are outfitted with comfortable furnishings, seashell white window shutters, hand-tufted area rugs and a curated gallery of abstract artwork, representative of the waterfront destination.
Along with a complete transformation of all guestrooms and suites, the hotel has also introduced a new class of rooms into their rooms’ categories, the signature Waterfront Experience, available in only 34 of the property’s rooms and suites. This premiere experience provides an oasis of coastal elegance and exclusive amenities and perks to vacationers including a one-hour early check-in and a one-hour extension on check-out, a custom straw beach bag filled with island essentials including flip flops, two Turkish towels, SunBum sunscreen and bottled water, Parrot Key yoga mats, sand pails and shovels, as well as two reserved beachfront lounge chairs to take in the travel-worthy Key West sunset. In addition, nightly turndown service is offered featuring ice delivery, two bottled waters, custom robes, pillow mist and an overnight perfecting mask. All waterfront guestrooms and suites come equipped with complimentary mixers in the mini-bar, and a coffee and tea maker. Guests can also take advantage of the property’s complimentary garment steaming service.
In addition to the resort’s new accommodations, the property is now home to The Grove Kitchen & Bar, a culinary concept inspired by the local surroundings, providing guests with a selection of dishes made with fresh island flavors and local ingredients as well as a variety of cocktails, many adorned with a little umbrella. Guests can also expect an island escape from the moment of arrival thanks to a welcome drink, the Parrot Key Signature Tropical Sangria created by the team’s mixologist.
Parrot Key Hotel & Villas provides guests with a refined experience including direct access to a number of activities for those seeking adventure including jet skis, paddle boards and bicycles. Complimentary transportation to nearby Smathers Beach is provided to all guests, complete with two beach chairs and towels as part of the hotel’s partnership with Sunset Watersports. Iconic Florida Keys excursions on land and sea such as deep-sea fishing, eco-tours, snorkeling and scuba diving are also available for booking through the hotel’s dedicated concierge team.
“Through the redesign, new upgraded amenities and programming, we have truly created a unique experience that brings the essence of Key West to life,” adds Mungall. “All guests will leave feeling refreshed and inspired by the new Parrot Key Hotel & Villas experience, no matter their travel style.”
A selection of curated experiences and packages will offer guests the opportunity to get in touch with the local community. Each of Parrot Key Hotel & Villas’ four pools have been programmed to offer a variety of activities for all travelers to enjoy including family-friendly pool games, a poolside Ernest Hemingway-inspired reading nook with paperback books to borrow, local mural artwork, a selection of rotating wellness offerings and specialty menus. To make the escape to paradise feeling last, guests can now take a little piece of the experience home by purchasing a branded item.
