The Waldorf Astoria Panama, the first Waldorf Astoria in Latin America, is welcoming travelers with The Panama Canal Package, including a breakfast buffet, complimentary WiFi, a five-hour Panama Canal transit tour full of history and geological value, and transportation to and from the Miraflores Visitor Center – where guests will learn about this engineering wonder that has united the world since 1914.
Considered a key conduit for international maritime trade and the oldest of the “seven wonders of the modern world”, the Panama Canal is esteemed as one of civil engineering’s greatest inventions, uniting the Pacific and Atlantic oceans. It is believed that the foundations of the Panama Canal Treaty, signed between Panama and the U.
S. in 1903, were laid in room 1162 of the original Waldorf Astoria New York. As an ode to this storied connection, both the Waldorf Astoria Panama and Waldorf Astoria New York will be serving up a commemorative cocktail called the “Bishop.” The “Bishop” cocktail dates back to the time of the treaty signing, and has been deliciously adapted for today’s palate by Waldorf Astoria New York Peacock Alley’s house mixologist Frank Caiafa.
For the month of August, the hotel will offer one free Bishop cocktail per person who has lunch or dinner at one of the onsite restaurants. Furthermore, cocktail making classes of the “Bishop” are offered at Waldorf Astoria Panama upon request.
The Panama Canal Package is available for booking and travel now through December 31, 2014. Package rates for two guests start $380 per night, based on availability for two-night minimum stays.
