Mukul Beach, Golf & Spa in Guacalito de la Isla, a $250-million, 1,670-acre private beach community on Nicaragua’s Emerald Coast, is celebrating its first anniversary.
The first luxury resort in Nicaragua, Mukul has been lauded in top travel publications around the globe. Mukul was included in Travel + Leisure’s “It List” of best new hotels in the world and was named the top new international resort by Andrew Harper Hideaway. The Mukul Spa was selected as the Best Spa in the “Best of the Best” Virtuoso Awards. The resort’s Guacalito Golf Course was named the Top International Golf Course by Golf Magazine and the “Best of the Best” by Robb Report.
“We are thrilled that in just our first year of operation, Mukul has been acclaimed in the media and honored with such prestigious awards,” said Carlos Pellas, President and Founder of Pellas Development Group, which launched Mukul. “We are proud to be recognized not just for Mukul’s five-star accommodations and service, but for its commitment to raising the bar for tourism in Nicaragua.”
Pellas announced some changes in management for 2014: John Pippett, formerly the Director of Construction, has been promoted to Project Director of Guacalito. Lorrianne Mesina, who brings 20 years of experience in the luxury hospitality sector, including positions at The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay and Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas, is the new Sales Director of Mukul. Husband-and-wife Federico Spada and Claudia Silva Spada continue to lead the management team at Mukul, Federico as General Manager and Claudia as Director of Public Relations and Marketing.
“Our excellent team at Mukul has accomplished more than we ever dreamed during our first year,” said Pellas. “With the new promotions and additions, it will be even stronger as we continue to grow and flourish in our second year.”
