IMPRINT Hospitality has announced the acquisition of the Historic Taos Inn, located in Taos, New Mexico. IMPRINT, who led the acquisition, will also manage the Inn and undertake a renovation plan over the next 24 months.
“From the moment we first saw the Taos Inn, we fell in love with its charming and welcoming character,” said Alexandra Walterspiel, Managing Partner of Denver-based IMPRINT Hospitality. “The fact that there’s such a strong tie in to the local community gave us a very comfortable feeling. When the opportunity presented itself to be a part of this iconic property, we immediately seized it.
”
The 44-room Taos Inn, located in the heart of town a short walk from the hub of Taos Plaza, boasts authentic Southwest charm, complete with adobe wall construction and kiva fireplaces in most of the guestrooms. With its architecture, artistic spirit, local cultural ambiance and historical perspective, the Inn is arguably the single most representative symbol of the culture and history of Taos. National Geographic Traveler Magazine has called the Taos Inn “One of America’s 54 Great Inns”. It was added to the New Mexico State Register of Cultural Properties in 1981 and to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.
“We are planning many updates for the accommodations and the beloved Doc Martin’s Restaurant,” said Matt Seim, Managing Partner of IMPRINT.
“Rest assured all upgrades will be made to reflect the Inn’s character, ambiance and cultural authenticity. Our overarching intention is to ensure that the Historic Taos Inn never loses its moniker of “the Living Room of Taos.”
Guest rooms will enjoy a refresh of furniture and fixtures including lighting, carpet, artwork, etc. with an aim to create a fresh new feel with added flare that embraces the warm old-world New Mexico charm.
IMPRINT also intends to focus on reinvigorating the iconic Doc Martin’s Restaurant and Adobe Bar, building on their already excellent reputation. Plans include updating the interior finishes and introducing new and innovative menu items to create a unique dining experience for Taos locals and visitors alike.
In addition, with Taos being widely recognized as one of the top destinations for skiers in North America, IMPRINT will work to forge a relationship with Taos Ski Valley to optimally connect the experience of Taos as a charming, one-of-a-kind historic town with the outdoor majesty of a world-renowned ski resort.
“We are honored to manage this iconic property in Taos,” added Walterspiel. “We pride ourselves in operating our properties in a locally relevant and connected manner and feel a great kinship with Taos. We are looking forward to further enhancing the connection of the Historic Taos Inn to the Taos community.”
