Opening today, the Mondrian Park Avenue will bring a new luxury lifestyle experience to New York City’s NoMad neighborhood.
Managed by Journal Hotels and licensed from sbe, Mondrian Park Avenue aims to be a cultural hotspot, providing a lively dining and nightlife scene, and serving as a hub for vibrant art. The hotel’s location near landmarks such as Madison Square Park, the Flatiron District and the Empire State Building will also connect guests with some of the City’s best cultural experiences.
Originally constructed in 1918 as a 15-story office building, five floors were added during the hotel conversion elevating the property to a 20-story hotel. Initially conceived as an SLS designed by Philippe Starck, Mondrian Park Avenue is a vibrant character, much like its namesake Dutch painter, Piet Mondrian. The 189-key hotel boasts contemporary guestrooms and suites, which have been designed to maximize comfort and convenience with plush bedding and spacious bathrooms, as well as neutral woven leather furnishings and floating desks for a versatile work and play environment. The premier 1,300-square-foot Piet Suite offers the look and feel of a modern Manhattan residence with two bedrooms, a separate living room and dining area, wet bar, spacious private balconies, and other luxury amenities.
On-property amenities include Cleo restaurant, sbe’s award-winning culinary concept helmed by Chef Danny Elmaleh that showcases a modern twist on the ingredients and cultures of the Eastern and Southern Mediterranean region. Additionally, Stephen Brandman, co-owner and CEO of Journal Hotels, has collaborated with Butter Group’s Richie Akiva of 1Oak and Butter on a pair of pulsating nightlife venues including Fifteen Stories, a rooftop lounge and adjacent outdoor terrace featuring music and other activity nightly, serving drinks and light bites from a central bar. Fifteen Stories will also be an all-day space for guests with food and drink offerings throughout the day. Yours Truly will serve as a subterranean nightclub catering to the who’s who of New York City with a dedicated hidden entrance.
Another standout is the thoughtfully curated artwork. Guests will be welcomed with a New York City-inspired statement piece by Ara Starck, which adorns the marble-splashed foyer and check-in desk.
Additionally, modern-style artwork provides intriguing pops of color throughout guestrooms and suites.
“We’re honored to welcome Mondrian Park Avenue into our portfolio of storied hotels and we’re eager to curate a new luxury lifestyle experience in New York City,” said Stephen Brandman. “The new hotel will be ingrained with the DNA of its neighborhood and truly reflective of New York culture.”
“We’re thrilled to open our doors to guests and have them discover the unique lifestyle experience within. We look forward to becoming a pivotal hub for culture within the neighborhood, while providing guests with a stylish and comfortable place to relax and dine,” said David Moinian, owner of Mondrian Park Avenue.
