Millennials in Travel has recently relaunched its FAM program, after a year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With itineraries geared toward younger travel trade and consumers, the organization is confident it can serve as a beneficial resource for suppliers and destinations across the globe in the return of travel.
With protocols in place, Millennials in Travel began operating domestic FAMs in late-March. “Once vaccinations began to ramp up, we felt the organization could be a leader in organizing and hosting FAMs in the collective effort to return to pre-COVID training opportunities,” Monika Weinsoft, Director of Operations shared. “Travel is innate with the millennial generation and we believe now is the right time to show our clients, friends, colleagues and generation, that it can be done so safely and responsibly, while helping to inspire the industry of a prosperous post-COVID future.”
Anina Grasso, Senior Manager of Contracting at the Travel Corporation, has recently joined the organization as the National Manager of Exclusive FAMs. “There have obviously been so many changes with staffing and roles, but through our application and vetting process, we’ve been able to provide great qualified candidates to the sponsors,” said Grasso. “Our first FAM back was at the Belmond Charleston Place in South Carolina and there were actually encouraging tears shed amongst the group as the trip offered a glimmer of hope for our industry,” she continued.
Once an itinerary and dates are mutually determined by the organization and the sponsor, Millennials in Travel handles the promotion, application process, coordination/communication with FAM participants, and sends a representative to create content for its social media channels and website. Brenna Emerson, Director of Leisure Sales, Charleston Place, A Belmond Hotel shared, “It truly was what perfect FAM dreams are made of. The weather, the connections that were made, the laughter and joy that we had learning and listening and just being together doing what we all do best. So fulfilling and productive!”
Millennials in Travel will be hosting two upcoming FAMs with Virgin Hotels in Nashville and Dallas (pictured) before expanding internationally to Bermuda, Mexico and Turks & Caicos. While the FAM schedule for the duration of 2021 is filling up, there is some availability should a supplier or destination be interested in sponsoring.
