The Mantis Group has introduced a floating boutique hotel plying the great Chobe River that divides Botswana’s Chobe National Park from Namibia’s Caprivi Strip. The Zambezi Queen operates in 5-star luxury, with 10 Suites and 4 Master Suites, private balconies and fans, full-length sliding shutters for privacy and protection from the sun, sliding mosquito net doors and the very finest finishes.

The vessel’s top deck offers unobstructed views with a telescope for exploring the African night sky, an open-plan lounge, an entertainment deck and dining and a stylish bar. There’s shaded seating and a plunge pool and sunbathing area.

In keeping with Mantis’ sustainable philosophy, the ship’s jet propulsion system reduces damage to the riverbed and enables operation in shallow water.

At night it switches over to low-emission to allow undisturbed bush sounds. Hot water requirements are provided by solar panels, and plumbing incorporates advanced water saving; used water is stored to prevent discharging directly into the river.

A two- or three-night stay includes collection from either Botswana immigrations at Kasane on the Chobe or Impilila airstrip across the Namibian border (other transfers can be arranged).
