John Hall’s Alaska, a multi-generational family-owned business known for its one-of-a-kind Alaska vacation packages is celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2022. To commemorate this milestone year, the small-group tour operator is launching a new lineup of seasonal itineraries inspiring bucket list travel in the Great Land. Early booking discounts are available through Feb. 1.

John Hall Sr. will kick off the year by traveling from Minnesota to Alaska in a 1947 Cadillac, retracing the steps of his original 1955 trip. The yearlong celebration will also include John Hall Sr. hosting two iconic departures of the “Fall Colors” package in September, joining the groups for portions of both trips.

This special 40th-anniversary Fall Colors trip departs Anchorage on an 18-day journey north to Fairbanks, into the Yukon, and through the Canadian Rockies ending in Seattle, WA. Guests will visit popular sites like Denali National Park and Fairbanks before traveling the entire Alaska Highway and visiting breathtaking places like Muncho Lake, Banff and Jasper National Parks. The best part of it all – John Hall Sr. will join the group for a segment of the tour, sharing 40 years’ worth of Alaska stories. Additional new and popular 2022 itineraries include:

• Alaska Winter Wonders: This eight-day land tour takes guests on a winter adventure to remember. From Anchorage, guests will fly to the city of Fairbanks where they will spend three nights viewing the aurora borealis and learning the secrets to photographing the dazzling light show from photographer Frank Stegles. Other activities include dog mushing, skiing, flightseeing tours, whale watching and a little relaxation at the award-winning Alyeska Resort in Girdwood. This itinerary kicks off on Feb. 22, starting from $4,989 per person.
• Iditarod and Aurora Adventure: An animal and nature lover’s dream, this itinerary is an 11-day land tour that will bring guests close to all the Iditarod and aurora action. Starting in Anchorage, guests can experience the Fur Rendezvous festivities and have access to flightseeing, a safari tour of the Turnagain Arm and musher meet and greets before the official start of the Last Great Race in Willow. Rounding out the trip are activities that include aurora hunting, a plane ride crossing over the Arctic Circle to an Iditarod checkpoint to greet mushers as they pass through, a visit to a dog kennel and an afternoon to take in the amazing ice sculptures of the World Ice Art Championships. • 1898 Alaska and Yukon Gold Rush: Retrace gold rush history in this 13-day journey from Anchorage into the Yukon and then dropping down into the Inside Passage. Spend three days on the Platinum Inside Passage day boat with visits to Skagway, Juneau, Tracy Arm Fjord and Icy Strait Point. This tour is unlike anything else on the market and packs in plenty of opportunities to discover Alaska’s rich history and beauty. This itinerary begins service on June 2, starting at $8,729 per person.
• Wild Alaskan Explorer: This nine-day itinerary is new for 2022 and the only tour that features a stop in the fishing community of Homer. From Anchorage, guests will journey through the Kenai Peninsula, floating the scenic Kenai River and enjoying marine wildlife and glaciers in Blackstone Bay. In Homer for two nights, guests can fish, join brewery tours, or visit an oyster farm before heading north to Denali National Park for in depth explorations. • Platinum Inside Passage Experience: Introduced in 2021 and brought back by popular demand, this immersive multi-day cruise experience via a privately chartered day boat provides an alternative to large ship cruising for those who are rethinking cruising. Guests spend two nights in Sitka before sailing to the capital city of Juneau. Continued day adventures include intimate visits to Alaska’s most wildlife-rich and historic coastal areas including Glacier Bay National Park, Skagway and Icy Strait Point. • National Parks of Alaska: John Hall’s is now offering guests the opportunity to visit all eight national parks in Alaska, expanding into the regions of Lake Clark and Kobuk Valley national parks – the only tour of its kind in Alaska. Expect amazing wildlife experiences in Katmai and Kenai Fjords national parks, Alaska Native cultural tours, and the chance to do a polar bear plunge in the Arctic Ocean! This 14-day itinerary begins service on June 3, starting from $11,589 per person.
• Untamed Alaska: This 11-day trip combines time in some of Alaska’s small towns with bucket-list activities and attractions like visiting Denali, viewing glaciers and searching for Alaska’s “big five.” Traveling via motorcoach and the Alaska Railroad, guests head north to the quirky town of Talkeetna and Denali National Park and Preserve before visiting the coastal communities of Valdez and Cordova. • Grand Slam Alaska: This 10-day tour takes visitors throughout Southcentral and Interior Alaska, offering opportunities to view glaciers, go whale watching, experience local culture, visit national parks and much more. Sail to the small fishing town of Valdez via the Alaska Marine Highway System; explore Denali National Park and Preserve; and ride the Alaska Railroad all in between visits to two of Alaska’s largest cities, Fairbanks and Anchorage.
