Jamaica was a big winner at the 2011 World Travel Awards Grand Final Gala Ceremony, held on January 11 at Katara Cultural Village in Doha, Qatar. In addition to winning the award for World’s Leading Honeymoon Destination, Jamaica was recognised for the sixth consecutive year as the World’s Leading Cruise Destination.
The destination also won for World’s Leading Boutique Group (Island Outpost), World’s Leading Villa (Round Hill Hotel and Villas and pictured above), World’s Leading Family All-Inclusive (Beaches Resorts) World’s Leading Caribbean Attractions Company (Island Routes), World’s Leading Tourism Development Project (Port Authority of Jamaica – Port of Falmouth) and World’s Leading All-Inclusive Company (Sandals Resorts).

” said Jamaica’s Director of Tourism John Lynch. “Our on-island partners have also had world recognition in their various areas demonstrating the strength of the destination.
These awards serve as an endorsement of our combined and vigorous efforts to promote the destination worldwide.
They reflect our commitment to provide top-notch offerings for visitors from around the world.”
Speaking at the awards, Graham Cooke, President and Founder, World Travel Awards, said: “The past year has continued to challenge every strata of travel and tourism. However our Grand Final winners have all demonstrated their world-class pedigree over this period, and are currently spearheading the global recovery of travel and tourism.
