Sunrise Airways has tapped longtime aviation industry executive Hamish Davidson to serve as the carrier’s Chief Operating Officer (COO). In his new role, Mr. Davidson will oversee all aspects of daily operations at Sunrise, while also directing the establishment of its planned hub in Port-au-Prince together with its strategic expansion to various international gateways throughout the Western Caribbean.

“We’re excited to have such an accomplished aviation executive as Hamish on our team,” said Philippe Bayard, President of Sunrise Airways. “The strength of his experience, contacts, and practical business acumen will serve us well as we continue to expand our route network and bring a new level of excellence to flight service within Haiti, as well as to neighboring gateways in Cuba, the Turks & Caicos, Jamaica, and elsewhere.”

A native of Scotland, Mr. Davidson brings 24 years of airline industry experience to Sunrise. Prior to joining the airline, he served as Executive Vice President of BAE Systems Asset Management, one of the world’s foremost lessors of regional aircraft to commercial aircraft operators, in addition to leading the company’s commercial aviation businesses in the United States. His career in aviation also includes eight years working in various corporate finance and commercial roles with BAE Systems where he was closely involved with the management of various start-up airlines around the world.

In addition to his role at Sunrise Airways, Mr. Davidson will also continue to serve as President of 3-D Aviation LLC, a boutique aviation consultancy specializing in aircraft sales and logistics.

Sunrise Airways currently serves domestic routes within Haiti operating 19-seat Jetstream 32 EP aircraft manufactured by BAE Systems. The carrier plans to expand its route network in 2013, establishing a hub in Port-au-Prince and launching new service to Cuba, the Turks & Caicos, Dominican Republic and Jamaica to better serve air travel needs within the Western Caribbean.
