Ecuador based Galapagos cruise operator Latin Trails has announced the overhaul of its yacht “M/V GALAPAGOS SEA STAR JOURNEY”. The most exclusive yacht in the archipelago will be undergoing a full 2 month overhaul in the sea port of Guayaquil – Ecuador.

This scheduled maintenance will take place between August 20 – October 20, 2015.

One of the most important features of this maintenance is the replacement of the yachts 2 motors, the new motors will offer less noise, a smoother navigation and better fuel efficiency. The work that will take place at the shipyard will be:

*Installation of new motors (this will improve speed in 2 knots as well).
*Overhaul of generators and all mechanical equipment
*Sandblasting and repainting of the entire hull
*New fabrics and upholstery in all cabins and social areas
*Refreshed interior decoration, giving the yacht a much more tranquil, soft and relaxing ambiance
*Replacement of all exterior wood work.
*Replenished library with an extended collection of books

The Sea Star Journey will emerge with a fresh look, actually in a better condition than it was even during its maiden voyage from a few years back, but it’s not all about luxury, as the new efficient engines prove. Preserving the Galapagos Islands and wider environment is a very important part of the Sea Star’s mission. So, much of the work is being carried out using only local products and the yacht will be stocked with organic products that support sustainable rainforest communities in Ecuador, with all products tested to ensure they are up to the high standards expected by Latin Trails clients.

“We are excited with the refurbishment of our boutique yacht the M/Y Sea Star Journey, it is the evolution of expedition services in Galapagos. We have hired an on board hotel manager and will also be working on satellite connectivity during this maintenance. We aim to continue to be the standard bearers in high standard Galapagos cruise experiences.” Said Marcel Perkins, Managing Director at Latin Trails.

During the dry dock period the crew of the yacht will be participating in training courses, brushing up on their culinary, bakery, bartending, cabin work and safety procedures.
