This fall, Baltimore offers new and exciting events in addition to time-honored traditions. Here’s a sampling:
Baltimore’s Art Scene
Baltimore is a haven for art lovers. Home to one of the leading arts and design colleges in the country (the Maryland Institute College of Art) and three world-class art museums (The Baltimore Museum of Art, Walters Art Museum and American Visionary Art Museum), there is no shortage of culture in Baltimore. This fall will see an explosion of art in Baltimore with new exhibit openings at The BMA, The Walters and AVAM, as well as the Free Fall Baltimore events that celebrate all things art, and the Madonnari Arts Festival in Little Italy that honors Renaissance era street painters with elaborate chalk creations.

Edgar Allan Poe’s Legacy Lives on in Baltimore
Baltimore is the home of Edgar Allan Poe’s final resting place at Westminster Burying Ground and his family home, which is now the Poe House and Museum. You can find many artifacts of his life at the Maryland Historical Society, the Enoch Pratt Free Library, and the George Peabody Library. Baltimorean’s pay tribute to Poe by honoring his death day in October with an event at Westminster Hall, which includes the presence of the mysterious Poe Toaster, and Baltimore’s longstanding Poe impersonator can be found giving performances throughout the fall.

Maryland Fleet Week and Air Show Baltimore
Baltimore is one of seven cities selected to host a Navy Fleet Week to honor the rich naval traditions of the Chesapeake Bay and the contributions of Marylanders to the defense and prosperity of the nation. Dozens of gray hulls, vessels and schooners from the U.S. and international navies are expected to line Baltimore’s famed Inner Harbor during the week, bringing thousands of sailors to the region and giving visitors the chance to tour the ships. The USS ZUMWALT will be commissioned on October 15. Named for Admiral Elmo “Bud” Zumwalt Jr., the USS ZUMWALT, DDG1000, is the most powerful, technologically-advanced United States destroyer in our history. This ship is the first of its class and introduces major innovation in ship design, a stealth profile, tumblehome hull, and long-range weaponry. The Navy’s famed Blue Angels flight demonstration team is scheduled to perform above Ft. McHenry and Baltimore’s Harbor October 15 and 16.

Fell’s Point Fun Fest
Fell’s Point September 30–October 2, 2016
This free Neighborhood Street festival features over 10 live musical artists and many local food vendors to support The Preservation Society and Fell’s Point Main Street.
Baltimore Beer Week
Citywide October 7-16, 2016
A 10-day celebration of 350+ beer events, festivals, tastings & dinners throughout the Baltimore region. Baltimore Beer Week is a collaborative effort of businesses and beer enthusiasts in our community to celebrate and highlight the unique beer culture that exists in and around the Chesapeake region.

Matisse/Diebenkorn
Baltimore Museum of Art October 23, 2016 – January 29, 2016
Breathtaking juxtapositions of more than 90 paintings and drawings from museums and private collections throughout the U.S. and Europe reveal the enduring power of Diebenkorn’s firsthand experiences of the French artist’s work and present a stunning new view of two artists who never met.

Baltimore Seafood Festival
