Beginning on June 25, 2015, travelers will have the option to purchase round-trip flights from Los Angeles to Wellington, New Zealand with Fiji Airways.

Fiji Airways’ Managing Director and CEO, Stefan Pichler, says New Zealand is an incredibly important market for Fiji Airways, and the new flight option is a testament to Fiji Airways’ strong performance there.

“The introduction of this new route reflects our commitment to the New Zealand market, and in growing our global network,” Pichler says.

The Los Angeles-Wellington route is made possible by the addition of direct flights from Nadi, Fiji to Wellington.

The new Los Angeles- Nadi- Wellington route opens up an additional 328 seats per week between Fiji and New Zealand.

Wellington Airport’s Chief Executive, Steve Sanderson, says that Fiji Airways is the first new airline to come to the Wellington Airport in ten years.

“We have worked with Fiji Airways for a number of years on the opportunity the Wellington market presents and are delighted they have committed to the region,” Sanderson says.

United States visitors using Wellington as their New Zealand point of entry have increased by 35% over the last two years. Wellington residents traveling to Fiji and to the United States have grown by more than 20% over the same period.

“The new service, which will add up to 34,000 seats to Wellington’s market, really demonstrates the demand and growth in international traffic to and from Wellington,” Sanderson says.

The weekly flight will be complemented by a permanent additional service beginning June 2015. Fiji Airways operates up to 13 weekly services between Fiji and Auckland and Fiji, and two weekly services between Nadi and Christchurch, which will double in capacity next winter. Fiji Airways is the only airline to offer child discounted airfares as well as a daily business class travel option directly from Fiji to New Zealand.
