Friendly Planet Travel announced today a new 10-day tour to explore Beijing, China and Tokyo, Japan, two of the most attractive travel destinations in the world, starting at $1,699.
The Beijing and Tokyo: A Sale of Two Cities tour combines two of Asia’s cultural and economic powerhouses that exhibit impressive modern achievements within ancient and incredibly rich cultures.
The package incorporates two cities that are geographically close in proximity, but still vastly different in history and culture,” says Peggy Goldman, President of Friendly Planet Travel. The 10-day Beijing and Tokyo: A Sale of Two Cities package includes round-trip airfare from Los Angeles (LAX) on Air China; fuel surcharges, airline taxes, and fees; all ground transportation and transfers; accommodations in deluxe and first-class hotels; buffet breakfast daily and one lunch; and a Great Wall of China tour and Tokyo city tour with local guides.
The journey begins in Beijing, the historic and cultural capital of China. Travelers first enjoy a full-day excursion to the only man-made structure visible from the moon, the Great Wall of China, and the Sacred Way, an ancient road that links the Ming Tombs. While in Beijing, travelers have the option to explore the city further on the their own, or enjoy several optional excursions to the Temple of Heaven and the intricate maze Beijing’s Hutongs (ancient alleys) to explore the way the Chinese live and have lived for centuries; a unique tour of the picturesque Gaobeidian Village to visit a typical Chinese school to see how children are taught in China, and join a village family in preparing and sharing a traditional Chinese dinner; a visit to the Summer Palace, the quintessential Chinese garden and a UNESCO World Heritage site, with a stop at the Panda Zoo and Forbidden City; or a Peking Duck dinner and Kung Fu show, a performance that blends music, martial arts and a moving story. Accommodations in Beijing are at the four-and-a–half-star Kempinski Hotel.
Travelers then depart for Tokyo, the world’s main economic center and Japan’s modern capital, where Japanese shrine architecture and peaceful gardens contrast with the bright lights and designer shops of Ginza. First, travelers embark on a city tour of Tokyo to explore some of the area’s main sites, including the Tokyo Tower, modeled after the Eiffel Tower in Paris; Meiji Shrine, a fine example of Japanese architecture; and the East Garden of the Imperial Palace, the present residence of the Emperor of Japan. The city tour concludes in Ginza, Tokyo’s most famous up-market shopping, dining, and entertainment district. Travelers can then explore Tokyo’s stunning, modern skyline; glittering, neon lit streets; and historic neighborhoods on their own, or take advantage of optional excursions, including a Japanese culture inspired guided walking tour of the Shinjuku ward; or a full-day tour with lunch to one of Japan’s most famous sites, Mt. Fuji, and Hakone, a hot springs resort town, where travelers enjoy a gondola ride and a scenic cruise on Lake Ashi. Accommodations in Tokyo are at the four-star Keio Plaza Hotel, located in the Shinjuku ward.
Friendly Planet’s 10-day Beijing and Tokyo: A Sale of Two Cities tour is available on the departure dates of November 15, January 17, and February 21 for $1,699, and March 7 for $1,799 if booked by November 6.
