Cruise Line International Association (CLIA) President and CEO, Christine Duffy (pictured second from left) christened AmaWaterways’ newest ship, the AmaCerto in the scenic Danube town of Vilshofen, Germany yesterday. As Godmother of the ship, Duffy performed the tradition of breaking a bottle of champagne on the ship’s hull as the crowd released hundreds of balloons and a brigade of Vilshofen soldiers gave a 10-gun salute. Vilshofen Mayor Georg Krenn greeted the crowd of local dignitaries, river cruise executives and passengers, followed by remarks from AmaWaterways President and Co-Owner Rudi Schreiner & Executive Vice President and Co-Owner Kristin Karst, as well as Godmother Christine Duffy.
“I am honored to serve as godmother of the AmaCerto,” said Christine Duffy. “Over the last five years, we have seen 10 percent annual passenger growth in this segment of the industry, as river cruises are among the most innovative and popular ways to discover a destination.”
