Early indications from JAPEX 2013 show that the event will deliver positive results for the Jamaican economy, as partnerships that were forged and relationships that were strengthened at the event serve to make Jamaica the ultimate beneficiary.

Confirmed appointments prior to the opening of JAPEX 2013 saw 9.6 percent increase from 2012. Even more important is that 93 percent of the appointments requested have already been confirmed, as opposed to only 64 percent at the same time last year.

The Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) worked with the Jamaica Hotel & Tourist Association (JHTA) in the planning of this event.

“Our Association’s commitment to maximizing the lucrative linkages that exist between Tourism and other industries, as initiated at JAPEX 2011, is once again reaffirmed through the presence of various suppliers of goods and services to our sector who are here to meet and negotiate with us”, said Evelyn Smith, President of JHTA.

“We are gathered in Jamaica from many corners of the world but we are drawn together in one love for Jamaica, the land we all love and for which the successful promotion of tourism is key,” said Smith in her welcoming ceremony speech.

Innovation, entrepreneurship and service excellence has brought high acclaim to the JHTA membership throughout the years, and it is those same values which will need to continue in order to make Jamaica attractive as a travel destination of choice.
