With the hosted travel advisor segment continuing to grow in terms of both sales and numbers. Despite the segment’s robust growth, it’s difficult to find reliable data on the hosted sector due to its fragmentation.

To help address an industry-wide need for more information, Host Agency Reviews (HAR) has shared the findings of its 2019 Travel Agent Income Survey. Nearly 900 advisors completed the survey.

In addition to examining aggregate demographic information, HAR created detailed reports to further segment the hosted advisor sector and magnify subsets of hosted advisors according to years of industry experience.

HAR’s ”Travel Agent Income Report, 2019” is the first of the series, addresses income trends among established hosted advisors.

Among its findings:

$44,312 was the average income overall

$61,427 was the average income for advisors who reported working full-time

84% reported earning more income than the previous year

In HAR’s “Who Is the Hosted Travel Agent in 2019?”, the data profiled all hosted advisors, finding:

Cruise was the top-reported niche (compared to Family Travel, in 2018)

82% of respondents identified as women

50% worked full-time

62% reported having at least one industry certification

32% reported having membership to an industry association

HAR founder, Stephanie Lee, addressed the success of this year’s income survey, “There are so many things to love about the data from the income survey! But what I love most is that it gives real, concrete insights into the hosted advisor community. Previously, hosted advisors were this mysterious entity that was quickly shaping our industry, but no one really knew anything about them.”
