Villa Taina, the boutique, beach-side hotel in Cabarete on the Dominican Republic’s north shore, is offering autumn specials for the best rooms in the house. From September 1 through December 15, book two nights and get the third at a 50% discount. Discounts apply to Comfort Ocean Rooms and Penthouse Rooms (pictured left).

The former are $135 per night and the latter are $155 per night. Full, beach-side international breakfast and local taxes are included.

All units face the ocean.

“The Penthouse rooms are on the top floor of our beachfront building, have a very big, semi private terrace of more than 300 square feet; large enough to have a nice little cocktail party,” says Claudia Schwarz, the owner/manager of Villa Taina.

“Furthermore, the units have a queen-size bed and each could accommodate up to four people.”These have dining tables on the terrace and are the only units with lounges for tanning—above the rest of the guests.

The Comfort Ocean Rooms have two queen-size beds, or a king-size and a furnished balcony.

These include phones; wireless internet connections; cable TV, with major-market and international stations; free in-room movies; and air-conditioning.

Villa Taina’s 57 rooms are in the center of Cabarete beach, which is famous for windsurfing, kite surfing and surfboarding.

It has one of the oldest surfing schools on the island. The open-air bar and restaurant are next to the beach and have Wi-Fi, so guests can post pictures of the beach to make friends jealous at home. Non-stop flights from New York take 3 ½ hours and from Miami, 2 hours.
