Berlin Summer Festivals You Should Not Miss.

There’s no better way to immerse yourself in Berlin’s culture and urban vibe, discover the city and meet like-minded locals, than attending a summer celebration.

Now that we can finally gather again, summer 2022 is the time to celebrate culture, art, new spaces, and an outlook into the future, at these Berlin festivals.

Kultursommer Festival: 90 days, 90 locations, 90 events – all FREE

Berlin’s Kultursommer Festival will offer a diverse, inclusive program of cultural events at unusual sites – outdoors, free of charge and all over the city.Every day, from June 18 until mid-September 2022, a different event will be staged at a different location, covering each of Berlin’s 12 districts, every neighborhood – and all equally accessible to Berliners and guests to the city. The Kultursommer events will reflect the diversity of the capital and its residents and include everything from literary readings and theater to classical music and dance performances. The goal is to fill uninhabited urban spaces with culture, discover unknown locations and to shed a light on popular spaces.

GREENTECH Festival: Two days, 150 exhibitors, 20 countries

The fourth annual GREENTECH Festival (June 22-24, 2022), will turn Berlin’s now closed Tegel airport into a space of inspiration, innovation and ideas focusing on a sustainable future. Under the motto “Together we change”, the GREENTECH Festival serves as a global platform for sustainability, presenting green technologies, products and services during a conference, a climate-neutral concert, and the GREEN AWARDS.

Long Night of Museums: One night, one ticket, 75 museums, some 700 events

Now a summer staple in many cities, the Long Night of Museums originated in Berlin in 1997. On August 27, 2022, from 6 pm until 2 am, the popular event will again be offering 700+ events in 75 participating Berlin museums, with a wide program ranging from special exhibitions, installations, and guided tours to talks with contemporary witnesses, readings, shows, workshops, culinary delights, and music. One ticket allows access to all related events, shuttle buses.

12th Berlin Biennale for Contemporary Art

From June 11 until September 18, 2022, the 12th Berlin Biennale for Contemporary Art will once again promote experimental formats and provide this year’s appointed curator Kader Attia the space and freedom to present the latest relevant and challenging positions independent of the art markets. The focus of 2022 will be the general topic colonialism and its present-day impact.  Artists, theorists, and practitioners from different fields will enter a dialogue with the city of Berlin and its public. The Berlin Biennale explores artistic developments to present the unseen and the unfamiliar against the backdrop of this stimulating atmosphere.
