Half Moon, one of the Caribbean’s most iconic destinations, has been awarded the prestigious Four-Star Rating by the Forbes Travel Guide.
The gold standard in the hospitality industry since 1958, the Forbes Star ratings are based on professional, anonymous inspections. With this new honor, Half Moon becomes the first resort in Jamaica to ever hold the distinction.
For decades, Half Moon has served as a chosen retreat for royalty, presidents and celebrities. The property was founded 65 years ago, and three of the original founding families still remain as owners. The resort is managed by Salamander Hotels & Resorts, the Washington, D.C.-area luxury hotel company founded by Sheila Johnson.
“This award is a testament to the sincere service excellence for which Half Moon is renowned,” said Guy Steuart, III, chairman of Half Moon. “Our team of professionals care deeply for each and every guest who visits, and as stewards of a remarkable coastline, it is our privilege to promote authentic Jamaican experiences.”
The award is the latest in a series of developments at the 400-acre Half Moon property. On March 1, it will open a new resort called Eclipse at Half Moon. Framed by the glistening Caribbean Sea to the north and the lush hillsides to the south, the 57-room Eclipse is one of the most luxurious additions to the Caribbean in a generation. The addition of Eclipse creates a triumvirate of unique experiences under the Half Moon brand. Guests can also enjoy two other distinct resort choices: Founders Cove at Half Moon and Rose Hall Villas at Half Moon.
Half Moon resort is located in Jamaica just 10 minutes away from Montego Bay’s Sangster International Airport (MBJ). The property features three distinctive accommodation experiences: Eclipse at Half Moon, Founders Cove at Half Moon, and Rose Hall Villas by Half Moon. In total, Half Moon offers 210 rooms and suites, including 27 villas, along two miles of beachfront and a wide variety of unique and award-winning amenities and activities, including numerous restaurants and bars, Fern Tree – a Salamander Spa, a Robert Trent Jones Sr.-designed golf course, fitness centre with 11 flood-lit tennis courts, equestrian centre, children’s village, water sports and more.
Salamander Hotels & Resorts also operates Salamander Resort & Spa in Middleburg, VA; Hotel Bennett in Charleston, SC; The Henderson in Destin, FL; and Innisbrook Resort in Tampa Bay.
