Hotel B was awarded with the Silver Hexagon as the Best Conservation project and with a Statement of Recognition as Best project in Heritage Protection and Recycling at the XIX Pan American Architecture Biennial of Quito.
The David Mutal Arquitectos architects studio got the Silver Hexagon prize by the Architectural College in Peru during the XVI Peruvian Architecture Biennial that took place the last November 29th in Huancayo.
The jury recognized and awarded the great restoration work carried out, which was resulted in a blend of classic luxury and contemporary design. The building declared a National Historic Heritage now houses the first Relais & Châteaux property in Lima known as the Hotel B.
The hotel is the transformation and extension of a summer Belle Époque mansion designed by the famed French architect Claude Sahut and completed in 1914.
Hotel B is the first boutique hotel in Lima, created by The Andean Experience Co., belonging to the Relais & Châteaux collection. Developed in Barranco mansion during the early twentieth century, the house is a clear example of a Belle Époque mansion, which was originally built as a summer residence.
It was commissioned by the French architect Claude Sahut responsible for the remodeling of the Government Palace, main squares and avenues of the city. It is a meeting place with artistic sensibility to connect travelers; a place for contemporary explorers seeking intrigues and mysteries of Peruvian culture, geography and nature, Hotel B caters to traditionalists looking for an authentic historic atmosphere and to shrewd urban explorers willing to immerse themselves in the city´s contemporary social and cultural scene.
