Jamaica was voted World’s Leading Wedding Destination at the World Travel Awards (WTAs) Grand Final Gala Ceremony on Saturday, December 6 in Anguilla. This was the first time the World Travel Awards included the category of World’s Leading Wedding Destination, and Jamaica competed against other popular destinations including Dubai U.A.E., Las Vegas, U.S.A., Saint Lucia and The Bahamas.

In addition, Jamaica won the award for World’s Leading Cruise Destination, beating out a strong field which included Lisbon, Maldives and Seychelles. Award-winning actress Vivica Fox hosted the gala ceremony, which also saw a number of Jamaica’s travel partners being recognized for excellence.

“We wish to congratulate our many partners who were recognized during the World Travel Awards, an indication of our world-class product which attracts thousands of visitors to experience our destination each year,” said Jamaica’s Director of Tourism, Paul Pennicook. “Tourism plays a vital role in our economy and we are honored to receive these high accolades at the WTAs. We wish to thank everyone who has helped us ensure we continue to deliver a quality product.”
