On September 27th, 2012, a large number of global and African tourism leaders will amass at New York University to participate in the Africa Travel Association’s (ATA) Seventh Annual Presidential Forum on Tourism.

The event will be hosted by NYU Africa House as world leaders gather in New York City for the United Nations General Assembly meetings. With global tourism continuing to expand and diversify at a fast growing pace, and Africa’s tourism growth increasing steadily, ATA’s highest profile event in the United States will focus on the benefits of tourism, particularly in relation to the economy, environment and people.

ATA launched the Forum in 2006 to bring together heads of state or their representatives, to speak about how tourism contributes to a country’s economic growth, prosperity and stability. Since then, 15 African countries have participated in the event, with over 1400 participants, including representatives from Chad, Egypt, The Gambia, Rwanda and Tanzania, and the African Union, as well as the United Nations World Tourism Organization, World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO), and Atta.

Doors open and registration begins at 9:30 am.
