APT’s Kings Canyon Wilderness Lodge has won the Silver award for unique accommodation at the 2012 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards, recently held in Cairns.

The lodge is owned by APT (Australian Pacific Touring) and offers accommodation exclusively to APT travelers. Environmental practices at the complex have recently been recognised by EcoTourism Australia, and it is now a fully accredited eco-business.

Comprising 10 luxury tented cabins, the lodge is located on Kings Creek Station, a cattle and camel station of 6950 square miles owned and run by Ian and Lynn Conway. Set in a private part of the station among Desert Oak trees, Kings Canyon Wilderness Lodge gives guests a memorable Australian outback experience.

The exclusive tented cabins offer the ultimate outback accommodation. Each cabin features air-conditioning and an ensuite bathroom. At Kings Canyon Wilderness Lodge guests experience the greatest of comfort in the Outback, with a perfect opportunity to absorb natural landscapes.

Gourmet Australian cuisine is served around the campfire under the stars of the southern sky. Sample such delicacies as camel, kangaroo and barramundi. After dinner, travellers can enjoy the serenity of the outback with fellow guests while relaxing around the campfire. Breakfast and a three-course dinner are included.

Special tours to visit Aboriginal ancient stone rock carvings are included in the price of the exclusive packages.
