Online Registration Opens for Africa Travel Association’s World Congress

Registration is now open for Africa Travel Association’s (ATA) 39th Annual World Congress to be held from November 11-16, 2014 in Kampala, Uganda.

ATA’s signature event on the African continent will be hosted by the Uganda Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities under the auspices of Honorable Minister Maria Mutagamba, with the theme “Tourism is Everyone’s Business.”

Delegates can register for the five-day travel industry event on-line at ATA’s website, www.africatravelassociation.org/WorldCongress. Special early bird rates for ATA members are available until September 30th, 2014 at $400. After this date, ATA members can register for $500, while the non-member registration fee is $600.

ATA Congresses in Africa bring together hundreds of delegates from around the world to interface with global travel and tourism leaders and experts. Delegates represent tourism ministries and boards, multilateral and regional institutions, global tourism organizations, tour operators and top-line agents, ground operators, airlines, and hoteliers. Participants from travel trade media, corporate partners, the African Diaspora, and non-profits are also expected to attend, as well as students and young professionals.

ATA’s 39th Annual World Congress will commence on Wednesday, November 12 with a Tourism Minister’s Roundtable, cultural festivities, and evening gala. The Congress program will include plenary sessions on global and U.S.-Africa tourism trends; engaging learning and professional development workshops focused on branding and marketing, social media, product development, niche markets, and impact tourism; an African Culinary Experience; a Young Professionals Forum; as well as opportunities to learn more about the destination’s rich array of tourism products and offerings at Uganda’s 1st Annual Jagoza Tourism Expo.

Additionally, host country days will feature travel excursions to the Mabira Tropical Rainforest and to the adventure city Jinja, home to the Source of the White Nile. The day will include a regatta and boating on the Nile, musical gala, and food fete. Additionally, delegates will have the opportunity to visit both hemispheres of the world at the Equator.

This year, ATA’s Annual Congress will feature a full-day Tourism Investment Forum where tourism business leaders, industry stakeholders, and investors will discuss the latest tourism development and financing trends and interface in business-to-business meetings. Additionally, Uganda will showcase the country’s vast investment opportunities in culture, wildlife, hotel development, and attracting Diaspora investment. Delegates will also have the opportunity to book pre- and post-Congress excursions and tours to further enjoy the “Pearl of Africa.”

Brussels Airlines, Official Airline of the 2014 ATA World Congress, has organized special discounts for delegates attending the Congress in Kampala. For travelers originating from U.S., Brussels Airlines, along with their airline partners are offering discounts of 5-10% off base fares (or better offer if another promotional fare is available). A special booking platform is accessible from the Congress page of the ATA website.

The official Congress venue is the Speke Resort Munyonyo, along Lake Victoria with special rates for delegates starting at $114 per night. Special rates are also available at other Kampala hotels.
