The World Festival of Black Arts and Culture is a 20-day culture and arts festival that will take place in Africa, December 10–31, 2010. The theme is “African Renaissance.” The Republic of Senegal, known for its artistic wealth, is the host country for the event. The country of honor is Brazil.
Starting with a grand festival parade, events will take place all around the capital city Dakar, Goree Island and in Senegal’s second city, Saint Louis—celebrations of poetry, sculpture, painting, music, cinema, theater, fashion, sports, fine cuisine, architecture, design and dance from artists and performers from around the African diaspora. Famous entertainers such as Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, Beyonce and Youssou Ndour will make the African experience unforgettable.
